Pitlochry Quaichs
The Pitlochry Highland games saw the launch of the Pitlochry Quaich designed by Jim Gillougley of Heritage Jewellers. The Quaich is an old symbol of warm Scottish hospitality and is known as the cup of welcome. Filled with whisky it was traditionally given in a gesture of friendship to visiting clansmen. These days it is given as a gift for special occasions.
The Pitlochry Quaich's distinctive heart shaped motif on its handles symbolise Pitlochry's place in the romantic heart of Scotland. For more information on the Pitlochry Quaich contact the friendly staff at Heritage Jewellers.

Pitlochry Quaichs

150th year of the Pitlochry Highland Games
On the 14th of September 2002, sunshine and clear blue skies welcomed Pitlochry as it celebrated its 150th year of Highland Games. With 16 visiting pipe bands, dancing competitions, races, heavy weight competitions and exciting tug of war matches, the Pitlochry Highland games were as entertaining as usual.
Secretary of the Games, Sandy Wilson was presented the first ever Pitlochry Quiach by Jim Gillougley of Heritage Jewellers as a memento of the 150th year of the games. It was fifty years ago, in 1952 that Sandy Wilson led a mass pipe band in the Highland Games on what was another beautiful day in the Romantic Heart of Scotland.
